Registration for the AAUP’s 93rd Annual Meeting is open! We
will meet again at the historic Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington,
D.C., June 7-10, 2007. Register by May 1 to take advantage of the

The theme for the 2007 Annual Meeting is “Telling the Truth
in Difficult Times.” Speakers include: Joan Bertin, executive
director of the National Coalition Against Censorship and consultant
to the Association’s Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure;
Andrew Ross, professor in the Program in American Studies in the
Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University
and author of Fast Boat to China: Corporate Flight and the Consequences
of Free Trade—Lessons from Shanghai; and Neil Gross, assistant
professor of sociology at Harvard University and researcher on political
views of college and university professors, with Solon Simmons, assistant
professor at George Mason University’s Institute for Conflict
Analysis and Resolution.
A special feature will be an exhibition of portraits by Maine artist
Robert Shetterly, from his nonpartisan series, “Americans Who
Tell the Truth.”

Moderators: Ann Higginbotham (Eastern Connecticut State University)
and members of the Committee on Women in the Academic Profession
The Social and Political Attitudes of Professors
Moderators: Neil Gross (Harvard University) and Solon Simmons (George
Mason University)
Capitol Hill Day – Thursday, June 7, AAUP members will schedule
visits to their senators and representatives to talk about important
issues affecting higher education.
TIAA-CREF will present a seminar focusing on “Estate Planning
and Charitable Giving” on Friday morning, June 8.
